Wishful Thinking

After seeing a few less than impressive British comedians recently, I wondered if seeing a good show by another Brit was wishful thinking. But Jen Brister came on stage with guns blazing. Her humour is delightfully political and hits home. She brings to the table all the things we think but never say, and puts her babbling British twist on it. She's funny from head to toe, with great use of the audience and the stage.

Just as well she performed in The Urchin Room, a more intimate space at The Tuxedo Cat - so the audience could fully appreciate her hilarious facial expressions and gestures. Laughs were coming out of the audience the entire duration of the show, and even when things got tense, Brister held it together. A perfect mix of ethnic jokes, political satire and of course, her lesbian material too. This is a show I definitely would have been happy to pay a meager $15 to see. Recommended!
